Hey, it's my first PSP FAQ! What system will I write for next?
Welcome back to Bomberman Land! Bomberman Land for PSP is known as
Bomberman Land Portable in Japan. It is the second PSP version of
Bomberman. The first game, entitled simply "Bomberman", is a good
old-school Bomberman adventure, broken up into levels with the simple
objective of defeating all enemies. You can get it really cheap, too.
Bomberman Land, however, is more of an RPG/minigame collection. You
still get the classic Bomberman battle mode, and unlike the first PSP
game, the battle mode is rendered in 2D graphics (but the main game
and minigames are 3D).
Bomberman Land fans will also want to check out Bomberman Land
Touch 1 and 2 on Nintendo DS, as well as Bomberman Land for Nintendo Wii.
If you really enjoy the series, you can go the extra mile and import
Bomberman Land 2 for GameCube or Playstation 2. It's entirely in
Japanese, but I've written an extensive FAQ that will get you through
the game. Bomberman Land 2 has much more content than the portable
games; it's worth checking out. Will I ever write a guide for
Bomberman Land 1 (PS1 only)?
Oh, and Xbox 360 owners must download Bomberman Live for Xbox Live
Arcade and challenge me to a match. There's no single-player story
mode, but online Bomberman can't be beat.

Circle Button: Hold to walk faster on map/Cancel menus

Start: Pause during Minigames.
Bompad Menu:
1-Pieces: Select one of the zones, then press X to see a hint about
where to find each individual piece.

Earning Money:
You can't earn money until the first boss battle at the Guard Station
in the Red Zone. Once you've won that battle, you can replay it to win
100 Bom per victory. It's better to wait until you get to the Yellow
Zone, where gambling games await. Hammer Time is the best way to earn
money in that zone. In the Green Zone you will be able to sell insects,
but more importantly, you can play Gourmet Mania, which is the single
best way to earn money in the game. Cha-ching!
Gourmet Mania:
Buy about ten of each food item from the Restaurant in the Yellow Zone
(or the other zone's Restaurants, but I haven't documented
their food properties). When the fat guy says what he feels like
eating, check the Combinations list here. The order he mentions the
food traits in doesn't matter - Simple and fresh is the same as Fresh
and simple, for example. When you give him something that he likes,
you will receive 1,000 or 2,000 Bom for your trouble.

6. Bomberman Land Walkthrough

Red Zone

-Select the Bomb Statue. You must now search for the Director.
-Talk to the Director at the WayPoint, the Speedboat, and the Ship.
-Talk to him again at the Bomb Statue for Green Piece 23.
-Go to the Waypoint and the Ship to get Green Pieces 24 and 25.
-Go to the Area Gate to open a new area.
-Go to the Accessory Shop and answer Yes, No, No, No for Purple Piece
11. You can now purchase accessories here.
-Go to the Information Desk and answer Yes for Yellow Piece 20. Talk
to the Staff Member again and answer Yes for an Easy Pass. This allows
you to pass an Attraction with a lower score than usual.
-Go to the Area Gate at the top-right corner of the island to open
a new area.
-Go to the next Waypoint and answer Yes for White Piece 7.
-Visit the Overpass and talk to the black ninja.
-Now play Radio Control, the first Attraction. Beat the high score
of 51 seconds to get Red Piece 17.
-Go back to the Area Gate above the Hotel and open a new area.
-Go up to the Fountain and answer Yes to get a Blue Horizontal Suit.
-Go to the Restrooms and answer Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes for Green Piece 10.
-Go to Lost Children and answer Yes, Yes. Return for Green Piece 6.
-Go to Jump Rope and beat the high score of 700 for Red Piece 20.
-Go to Leaning Labyrinth and beat the high score of 600 for
Blue Piece 2.
-Go to Mallet Mayhem and beat the high score of 120 for Red Piece 5.
-Go to First Aid, then back to the Bomb Statue, and return to First Aid
for Green Piece 5.
-Now go up to the Area Gate and open a new area.
-Beat Hectic Herding's high score of 450 for Blue Piece 7.
-Go to the Tent for Green Piece 1.
-Go to the Underground Entrance to get a Power Glove.
-Beat Skateboarding's high score of 800 for Blue Piece 10.
-Go to the Guard at the top-right corner of the island. Beat Black at
Laser Balls by scoring 480 points to gain access to the Blue Zone
and White Piece 2.
-You can return to the Guard and beat the Laser Bomb score of 640
to earn 100 Bom. Do this as many times as you want.
Blue Zone

-Beat the Lily Pad Leap high score of 700 for Blue Piece 1.
-Beat Whack-an-Ogre's high score of 400 for Red Piece 23.
-Beat Toilet Paper's high score of 16'66 for Blue Piece 18.
-Unlock the Area gate with Blue 17 and Red 23.
-Go left and beat the Ninjas high score of 500 for Red Piece 22.
-Check the Palm Trees to the right, and then the Palm Trees to the left.
Do it again and choose Yes when asked to shake them for White Piece 12.
-Go up and right to Volcano Blast. Beat the high score of 300 for Blue
Piece 23.
-Go down to the Information Desk and answer Yes for Yellow Piece 17.
-Head down and to the right to open the Area Gate with Yellow 17.
-Beat Octobomber's high score of 500 for Blue Piece 14.
-Beat Water Skipping's high score of 1200 for Red Piece 21.
-Go to the Anchor Statue for a free blue vertical-stripe suit.
-Go left, then up to the Area Gate and use Blue-14 and Red-21.
-Head to the Palm Trees at the top and talk to the pirate ninja to
get a Pirate Hat.
-Go to the Pirate Ship. Go to the Islet for White Piece 20.
-Return to the Pirate Ship and choose Yes.
Red Zone
--------
-Head to the lower Pillar and talk to Black.
-Visit the upper Pillar for White Piece 10.
-Find the Red-22 Area Gate and open it.
-Beat the Laser Ball high score of 480 for Red Piece 3.
-At the Light House, flip the first switch. Go down to the Cave and get
White Piece 5.
-Flip the second switch at the Light House and enter the Cave on the
right to get White Piece 6.
-Go up to the Guard Station to play Mallet Mayhem against Pink. Get
160 points to win. You will want to use an Easy Ticket here.
You will get White Piece 4 and access to the Yellow Zone upon winning.
-You can return here and play Mallet Mayhem any time for 100 Bom, but
it's not worth the trouble.
Yellow Zone
-----------
-You can now warp between zones with the L button.
-Pirate's Plunder: You can gamble money on this minigame. Bomberman
races forward and turns at every intersection, so pick a path that
will lead him to the treasure. I recommend against doubling up after
winning, unless you are really good at it.
-Visit the Waypoint while carrying an Easy Pass and choose Yes to
get Green Piece 22.
-Beat the Putting Green high score of 1000 for Blue Piece 5. That's
my kinda blue piece.
-Go up-right and beat the Hair-Raising Highway score of 70 to get
Red Piece 7.
-Head down and answer No at the Information Desk for Yellow 15.
-Hammer Time: This is a great way to earn money. Press and hold X, then
release to hit the bomb. Try not to hold it too long or the bomb will
fly off the scale. Holding X for one second will raise it about
half-way. If the bomb stops next to the number with a Bomb on its
left, you earn double money.
-Head to the top-right Area Gate and use Red-7 to open it.
-Answer Yes at the Space Coaster to get Yellow Piece 8.
-Go up to the Ferris Wheel and answer No for Yellow Piece 14.
-Go to the Boulders and choose Yes. Search and choose Yes again for Purple
Piece 3.
-Jot on down to the lower-right Area Gate and use Blue-5 to open
that sucker.
-Prize Catcher: Press X to move the claw horizontally. Press it again
to move it vertically. Press Triangle to check the prizes. It costs
50 Bom to play. If you catch a grey ball, you get 300 Bom. Catch colored
balls for Items. If you get an item, you also get Yellow Piece 3.
You must catch the Red ball to get the Wrestling Wear.
Other prizes:
-Yellow: Red Ribbon Ball,
-Green: Sneakers
-Purple: 3D Glasses
-Blue: Pacifier
-Orange: Bow Tie
-Dark Purple: Attraction 3 (Music)
-Go down and search the Palm Trees to get the Cat Whiskers.
-Equip the Wrestling Wear if you don't have it already, and equip it.
-Go up to the top-left and open the Area Gate with the Wrestling Wear.
You'll need to buy one if you can't win it in the Prize Catcher.
-Go up to the Fountain, then up to the Palm Trees, and back to the
Fountain. Head down to the Ordinary Trees for Purple Piece 1.
-Go left to the Area Gate that needs Green 22 and open it.
-Go up to the Carousel and answer No for Yellow Piece 13.
-Move up again and beat the score of 700 at Extreme Pogo for Blue Piece 11.
-Balancing Act is just above, where you must score 400 for Red Piece 19.
-Move left to the Choo-Choo Station and answer Yes for White Piece 25.
-Make sure you have 3000 Bom, then head back to Red Zone.
Red Zone
--------
-Go to the area Gate that costs 3000 Bom and open it.
-Walk up to the Coffee Cups and answer Yes for Yellow Piece 6.
-Head right to Aerial Adventure for Yellow Piece 10.
-You'll get Yellow Piece 11 at the Flight Tower up above.
-Go left and find the Guard Station where Green and Blue await.
Beat their score of 800 at Plasma Ball for White Piece 3 and access
to the Green Zone.
-Head down to Waypoint-2, near the Accessory and Item Shops, for
White Piece 13.
Blue Zone
---------
-Go up to the Beach House while carrying a drink from the Yellow Zone
Restaurant and choose Yes to get White Piece 15.
-Trek up and to the right to the Area Gate that needs Purple-3 to open.
-Walk right and beat the Scramble Puzzle for Blue Piece 3.
-Go right again to Parking and beat the score of 200 to win Red Piece 13.
-Further right, enter the Kart Center and say No every time for Green
Piece 9.
-Move down to the Restrooms and say Yes 4 times to grab Green Piece 11.
-Go down to the Gate that requires 30 Pieces to open and fling that
sucker open!
-Go to the Container and choose Yes to use your Power Glove for White
Piece 23.
-The nearby Treasure Chest contains White Piece 24, so answer Yes and
open it.
-The way that can be named is not the real way.
Green Zone
----------
-Go to Gourmet Mania and answer Yes, Yes to get Yellow Piece 22.
Return here to earn a lot of money... See section 4 for details.
-Go to Log Logic and score 650 for Red Piece 15.
-Go left to the Information Desk for Yellow Piece 16.
-Go down to Bug Catcher and score an easy 700 for Blue Piece 19.
-Go left to Flying Bomber and score 530 for Blue Piece 24.
-Go down and open the Area Gate that needs Blue-19 and Blue-24.
-Go to Panic Fall and answer Yes, Yes for Yellow Piece 5.
-Go up-right and open the Area Gate that needs Yellow-22.
-Beat the Dash 'n Swim score of 24", or use an Easy Pass, maybe
even a Super Pass, for Red Piece 11.
-Play Dumpings and eat, I mean, beat the score of 600 to get
Blue Piece 16.
-Go up to the Sign and talk to the staff member.
-Go down to the Ordinary Trees and answer Yes. Check each
tree, starting on the right, until you find a Gold Beetle. Take
it back to the Sign to get Purple Piece 7.
-Scoot up to the Area Gate and open it with your Gold Beetle. Go
back to the trees and get another Gold Beetle and a Black
one and a Brown one while you're at it. You may have to search
a spot several times to get them all.
-Walk left to the Small Bridge and you will find a Cowboy Pistol.
-Make sure you have a Watering Can from the Red Zone Item Shop.
Then visit the Pond and click Yes for some water. Now head
south to the Flower Bed and score Purple Piece 6.
Yellow Zone
-----------
-Go up to the Tent and answer Yes, No, No, Yes (to show the
Bomb Pad) and get Yellow Piece 25.
-Go down and right to the Monoral Station and present the
Cowboy Pistol for Purple Piece 5.
-Go up to Waypoint 2 and show your Cowboy Pistol off again.
Who needs modesty when you can get Purple Piece 2?
-Go left and open the Red-11 Area Gate.
-Play Kaboom, score 700, and receive Red Piece 1.
-Have fun on the Trampoline, scoring 300, to get Blue Piece 22.
-Visit Choo Choo Adventure and say Yes, Yes to get Yellow Piece 9.
Green Zone
----------
-Open the Area Gate that is next to the Green Zone entrance.
-Pachinko: This gambling game costs 10 Bom to play.
-Insect Buyer: Answer Yes to get Green Piece 3. Now you can sell
insects here.

-Brown Beetle: 100
-Black Beetle: 500
-Gold Beetle: 1000
-Go down to the Tent to scavenge Green Piece 2.
-Open the Area Gate to the left with White Piece 10.
-Push the Container to get Purple Piece 12.
-Talk to Charlie in the Monorail Station for Purple Piece 10.
-Play Bomber Samurai and get 300 Points to win Blue Piece 13. Yaa!
Blue Zone
---------
-Go to the top and fight Gold at the Guard Post. Win at Colorful
Kaboom to gain White Piece 14 and access to the White Zone.
White Zone
----------
-At the first Waypoint, you will receive a Student Cap. Snazzy.
-Visit the Information Desk twice and the lazy lady will give
up Yellow Piece 18.
-Go right and open the Area Gate with Green-9.
-Bingo Pachinko: This is a gambling game that costs 10 Bom to
play. Press Triangle to check the rewards, and press X to shoot.
-Play the classic Attraction Bomb Factory and score 550 to win Red
Piece 9.
-Score 700 in the Space Tube to get Blue Piece 12.
-Soccer Lifting will award you Blue Piece 25 upon scoring 700.
-Purchase a Guard Antennae from the Hat Shop and equip it. Go to
the Area Gate in the lower-left corner and open it.
-Flying Froggies: This gambling game costs 10 to play. Press and
hold X to hit the frog. The longer you hold it, the farther the
frog will fly. Make sure the frog lands on the yellow block -
that's Yellow Piece 1 and you need it!
-Go up to the Red-9 Area Gate and open it.
-Play Bubble Wrap Snap and get 400 to win Blue Piece 9.
-Get 400 in Count 'em All for Red Piece 25.
-Go left to the Area Gate that requires Red-25 and Blue-9.
-Visit the Event Stage to get a Superhero Belt. Equip it and visit
again to get Green Piece 7.
-Walk to the Swing and say Yes to get the Pinwheel Hat.
Blue Zone
---------
-Go to the play Dash n' Jump at the Beach House, Parking in the Palm
Trees, and Dash n' Swim in the Underground Entrance.
-Now you can fight Dark piece in the Volcano. Score 900 in Bomb
Factory II to get Purple Piece 22.
-Head all the way down and right to the Palm Trees and talk to Charlie.
-Open the Area Gate that needs Green-7 while you're over that way.
-Walk down and talk to the Young Man in the Palm Trees. Then go left
to the Drawbridge for White Piece 22.
-Go to Jungle River and answer Yes, No for Yellow Piece 7.
-Walk back to the left and open the Purple Piece 22 Area Gate.
-Bomber Slots: This gambling game costs 10 Bom to play. Use left or
right on the D-pad to select a slot, and then press X to stop the slot.
Triangle shows the winning combinations.
-Talk to the woman by the Palm Trees, then go to the left Palm Trees
and talk to the man. Repeat this to get White Piece 18. Finally, talk
to the woman again for White Piece 19. Isn't love grand?
Red Zone

-Talk to Gold at the Sign towards the south.
-Play Hair-Raising Highway at the Bench, Road Hog Highway at the

After getting the Cowboy Pistol in the Green Zone's Small Bridge,
go to Yellow Zone Waypoint 2.

Search the Yellow Zone's Boulders twice and choose Yes each time.

After Black sends you a message about it, head to the Yellow
Zone Palm Trees and answer Yes, Yes, No.

go to the Yellow Zone Monorail Station.

Purchase a Watering Can from Red Zone's Item Shop. Go to Green
Zone's Pond and fill it with water. Walk down to the Flower Bed.

In the Green Zone, talk to the staff member at the Sign about bugs.
Head down to the Ordinary Trees and catch a Gold Beetle. Return to
the Sign for the piece.
Purple Piece 8:
After Black messages you about the Green Zone Black Rock, head there
and say Yes to watering the rock.
Purple Piece 9:
Sprinkly the Rainbow Zone Sign with Rainbow Essence to get the Bunny
Ears. Equip them and talk to all 3 Birds in the Green Zone. Now
talk to the Mole.
Purple Piece 10:
Talk to Charlie in the Green Zone Monorail Station.
Purple Piece 11:
Go to the Red Zone Accessory Shop and answer Yes, No, No, No.

Using the Power Glove, push the Green Zone Container.

Enter the Green Zone Pavilion.

Bouncing Bomb: Your bombs will bounce off of walls when kicked, and
bounce around randomly when thrown.
Penetrating Bomb: Your explosions will not be stopped by soft blocks.
Skull: Gives you a random negative effect. You can pass it on to
others by touching them.
Star: Adds to your score in Star Battle Mode.
Crown: Whoever gets the crown wins in Crown Battle Mode.

-Radio Control: X is gas and Square is reverse. Let off the gas
on turns so you don't leave the track.
-Jump Rope: Press X to jump. Good and Great jumps earn more points.
Combo 10 Great jumps to start flipping. Watch out for
Speed Downs!
-Leaning Labyrinth: Use the D-pad or Analog Stick to tilt the maze.
-Mallet Mayhem: Press X to stop the hammer in the middle of a block.
Press X again to stop the power meter at full power.
Firstly, there are only 2 ways to stop and try to hit
a block. You have to either hit almost directly in the
middle of a block, or hit the line where 2 different
blocks meet. If you line up poorly here, you will
probably fail the minigame.
Secondly, once you are lined up well and hit X like
I said, you need to stop the power meter on full or
very close to it. You will knock the block(s) out
without knocking over the tower.
The way to get a high score is to knock 2 blocks out
at once by aiming for the line between both blocks...
This multiplies the score and saves time.
-Hectic Herding: Touch a sheep, and then press and hold X. Take it
inside the fence and release X to let it go. Close
the gate by pressing and holding X as well.
-Skateboarding: Press X to jump, Up + X to jump higher, and DOwn to
crouch. Collect coins for points.
-Laser Ball: It's Pang/Buster Brothers! Press X to fire shots at
the balls, which split into smaller balls when hit.
-Lily Pad Leap: Hold Left + X or press Square to jump left, and hold
Right + X or press Triangle to jump right. Don't
fall in the water or land on a bomb.
-Whack-an-Ogre: This should be fun, but due to the controls, it isn't.
Press Square to hit left, Triangle to hit up-left,
X to hit up-right, and Circle to hit right. Don't hit
bombs or let the enemies hit you.
-Toilet Paper: Rapidly press X. If the toilet paper is in danger of
tearing, a symbol will flash white and you need to
slow your button presses down.
-Ninjas: Press up to jump up, down to jump down, and X to attack.
You gain points by striking a ninja or collecting a coin.
You get extra points for striking a ninja who is behind you
(while jumping).
-Volcano Blast: Press X to fire and hold Circle to move the cursor
faster.Teach those rocks a lesson!
-Octobomber: Aim with up, down, left, and right. Press X to fire.
Ink stuns you, so try to dodge.
-Water Skipping: Press X to jump when you get to the water's edge,
and then press X whenever White is about to touch
the water again.
-Putting Green: Use left or right to check the position of the hole.
Press X to bring up the power meter, then X again
to hit the ball. A hole in one is worth 500 points.
-Hair-Raising Highway: Use left and right to dodge. Press X to honk,
but don't honk too much or you'll stop.
-Extreme Pogo: Move left or right and press X to jump higher.
Collect coins for points and don't fall, darn you!
-Balancing Act: Move left or right and try to balance the bomb
while avoiding the balls that are thrown at you.
-Plasma Ball: is just like Laser Ball, except for harder and bloodier!
-Scramble Puzzle: Press X to slide the pieces into an empty space.
Everyone knows how to play this annoying puzzle.
-Parking: Press X to accelerate, Square to brake, and Triangle
to reverse. Try to park exactly in the designated spot!
-Dash n' Swim: You can't just rapidly tap the buttons during the
swimming. You have to actually time the button presses
with the arm's movements... So try watching the arms,
or just press the buttons a little slower. Mastering
the swimming portion is key to winning.
